Playtex VentAire Bottles - 9oz - 3 Pack The Playtex@ VentAire@ bottle helps reduce gas and colic. Our patented bottle lets parents feed their baby virtually bubble-free. The leak-proof vent lets air in through the bottom of the bottle versus at the nipple like other bottles. So, there are virtually no bubbles for your baby to swallow. That means less gas, colic or spitting up. And, its angled shape promotes the semi-upright feeding position recommended by pediatricians to help prevent ear infections. The VentAire bottle is also easy to clean because top and bottom are removable and the vent is one piece. Wash by hand or in the dishwasher. Assorted Colors - Please let us choose for you - Will not contain pink
Editorial Review
Unlike most bottles, the 9-ounce Playtex VentAire can be opened from either the top or the bottom of the bottle. The top of the bottle has a twist-on ring and nipple, like most other conventional bottles, along with a plastic cap to protect the nipple and keep it clean when not in use. Each of the angled bottles in this three-pack is also equipped with an air vent on the bottom that's designed to keep the liquid moving toward the nipple when it is being sucked on, while at the same time preventing liquid from spilling out when the bottle is turned right side up. The system works well and has the advantage of allowing you to clean the bottle more thoroughly between uses. Although the bottles are reusable, they are not made with heavyweight plastic, and the manufacturer recommends that you don't heat them in boiling water. --Chris Burns

Great bottle! (2010-05-22)
I've been using the Playtex Ventair Advanced Nurseres for a little over 3 months now and love them. They are truly a fantastic bottle and I wish I had them with my other 2 boys.
After the BPA scare this last year I started searching for a bottle that had the following criteria: was BPA free, affordable and one that wouldn't leak from the lid/nipple area (which most bottles do). After trying many bottles, I found the Playtex Ventair Advanced Nursers and love them! And here's why:
The bottles are small and thin, taking up less space in my diaper bag for more important items.
The bottles also come completly apart, so I am able to get it completly clean for my baby. (The bottle consists of 5 parts total). One important thing to remember is to put the bottle fully together. If you are missing the part that goes into the bottle bottom part that screws on, you will leak formula out.
The Ventair technology is great too. My baby has bad reflux and since we've started using these bottles he has spit up alot less than with any other bottle we've tried in the past. The angle of the bottle, plus the vents on the bottom make it so the extra air goes out, instead of the bottle becoming vacuum-sealed with the baby sucking in extra air.
PROS:
-Comes completly apart.
-BPA free.
-Thin bottle.
-Has Ventair technology, so baby sucks in less air.
CONS:
-The replacement nipples can be a little pricy (as opposed to regular gerber ones).
A Godsend! (2010-01-20)
At first, I have to say I was a bit weary of using these bottles since they didn't work with my first child. Dr. Browns was the only thing that would work for him. Naturally, I bought more Dr. Browns bottles for my second child - thinking that they were "the best." What I found out is that all babies are different, and my daughter did not tolerate the Dr. Browns well at all. We switched from Dr. Browns, to NUK, to regular Gerber, to Playtex drop-ins - and all of them ended up giving my daughter more gas than what was normal. So, I caved in and bought one of these at our local store and gave it a shot. What a godsend! These bottles are excellent for her - she loves them and is sooo relaxed when she eats - and virtually no gas! They do have a lot of parts, but are a breeze to clean compared to Dr. Browns. You do have to be careful about warming them, but usually I set it in a cup of hot water 15 minutes before a feeding at it comes out the perfect tempurature. Just make sure the level of the water isn't higher than the level of the milk. If you have tried other 'colic reducing' bottles and haven't come up with the right one - give these a try - they worked for me and now I have a happy gas-free baby.
First Time Mommy Trying to Find the Right Bottle (2009-10-18)
As a first time Mommy, I researched everything on Amazon.com before I bought my baby stuff. If you're one of those new Mommy's doing the same thing, you'll notice when researching bottles that everyone loves or hates almost every kind of bottle!
I bought a sample of all different 4-6 oz. sizes of different bottle brands to see which one my newborn would like best and finally narrowed it down to this Playtex Ventaire Standard 6 oz. bottle. My baby preferred the nipple of this bottle and also had less gas and spit-ups after feedings from it. The smaller nipple is easier for her to latch onto and the flow of the nipple is perfect so she isn't dribbling all over. Even other small nipples on other bottle brands seemed to have a faster flow that would cause her to dribble.
The bottles and parts fit inside my Advent Microwave Steam Sterilizer, too. The only thing that's not convenient about this bottle is it has several parts/pieces to it, so you have to take the whole thing apart and make sure to wash/sterilize/dry everything before putting it back together for the next feeding. But that just comes with the territory...nothing you can do about that. Playtex also sells a Ventaire bottle that has a wide nipple but my baby didn't take well to wide nipples--I think those may work better for breastfed babies to help alleviate nipple confusion.
The only thing I'm not looking forward to is having to eventually move up to the 9 oz. bottle simply because those DON'T fit in my bottle sterilizer.
But this product was the winner in our home!
