Definitely Spill Proof (2005-06-20)
When they say spill proof, they do mean spill proof. My active toddler is constantly on the go and the most of the time with drink in hand! She also loves to throw things and no matter how hard I try, I just can't catch every sippy cup that goes soaring through the air . However, this sippy cup stood up to its word. It has yet to spill anywhere, no matter how many times it has been tossed or dunked.
The second good point is the insulation. My daughter loves to take a few sips and then toss or hide her sippy cup somewhere so only she can find it. I have that a few hours later, when she has the cup again, her milk is just as cool as it was a few hours prior. This is a big plus on car trips, waiting at doctor's appointments, or being anywhere where you can't easily refrigerate the cup. Being that my daughter takes a few times at a time, this part of the cup is a lifesaver. If you look inside the cup, you can see dual walls which makes the insulation works. The insulation also prevents those little sweat beads that form on most cups after leaving them out for awhile.
The third good point is the cute designs on each cup. This may not matter to some as long as the cup works well, but I am a sucker for neat little designs on cups. There are under the sea animals on one and farm animals on the other in pink, green, and purple. There are several other designs however, such as jungle animals, puppies, and kittens.
Last but not least is the durability. It is made of strong plastic, and no matter how many times is has been treated rough, it still works great and still looks new.
Of course, with the good comes the bad. My main complaint about this sippy cup is the fact that seems almost impossible to get liquid out easily. I watched my daughter struggle with it a few times, so I tried it myself. You have to really suck hard, and yet you get less liquid out than you would using a bottle. There is a one piece valve connected to the inside of the lid that ensures liquid will only come out when being sipped. I find this feature very aggravating. You can always remove the valve but then there goes the spill proof feature and you are sure to have lots of messes to clean up.
That being said, I still think I made a good decision purchasing these cups. You just can't beat all the good qualities and I think we can live with a slow flowing cup since it has so many other benefits.
